Thermal Imaging Cameras

Once a rarity, Thermal Imaging Cameras have become almost a routine acquisition for fire departments to consider. Falling prices coupled with an influx of grant money has allowed many departments to purchase these cameras and mount them on the rig.

However, have you really taken the time to learn how to use them? Have you had any training other than someone showing you how neat it is to see somebody's hand print on a locker?

Thermal Imaging Cameras have the potential to be a valuable tool in firefighting. However, that's all it is - a tool. Used properly it can make your firefighters more efficient and safer, used improperly it can be a direct cause of accidents and/or death. The use that you get out of these devices in your department will be directly related to the emphasis you place on the benefits and limitations of this instrument, and the training you put in place to make sure that your TIC doesn't become a crutch that breaks at the wrong time.

The following subjects are covered in the course:

Following our teaching philosophy, a lot of time in this class is spent in hands-on practical exercises, where students use the cameras in a variety of exercises to increase their familiarity with the devices and their understanding of how the tool can be used to extend their capabilities.

Fire Rescue Resources can also tailor this class to meet the needs and goals of your department and your environment.

Please contact us if we can assist you with any of your training needs. Write us at and let us assist you in getting the most out of this tool. FRR will be happy to provide you with more information about the program or assist you with any questions you may have.
